Garth M. Whitmore, 67, of Moorhead, formerly of Jamestown and the Twin Cities, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. Garth was born August 1, 1952, in Fort Sill, OK, to Milton and Joanne (Nelson) Whitmore. He grew up in Hope, ND, where he graduated from high school. Following high school, he worked for Hogenson Construction building elevators and fertilizer plants. He later moved to Jamestown where he started his own business, GMW Construction. Garth married Carol Hornung in Jamestown on August 16, 1981, they later divorced and he moved to the Twin Cities area where he lived for over 30 years. Garth had recently moved to Moorhead in April of this year and resided at the Eventide Fairmont.

He enjoyed driving his ’96 Chevrolet Corvette, traveling, hunting and fishing, spending time with friends in Ely, Minnesota, and watching his favorite TV shows including: Judge Judy, Jerry Springer, The Twilight Zone, and WWE on Monday and Tuesday nights. Garth most enjoyed his cats and spending time with his family and friends.

Garth is survived by his siblings, Gail (Ty) Hauge, Genieve Whitmore, Greg (Laura) Whitmore, Glorianne Whitmore and Susie Sagedahl; nieces and nephews, Hillery (Sean) Mork, Trishia (Aaron) Powell and their children, Griffin, Peyton, and Oliver, Tony Whitmore, Joshua Whitmore, Gordon Weest; uncles Mason Whitmore, Dwight Foss; brother-in-law Robert Weest; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.

A gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 26, at 2:00 p.m., at the American Legion in Hope, ND.
