Gary D. Thompson

Gary Dean Thompson was born on July 28, 1947 in Fargo, ND to Tilliam and Lena Boland Thompson. He grew up and attended school in Lisbon, ND. In 1968, Gary was drafted into the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1970. Gary married Kathy Dunham on January 23, 1971 in Ulen, Minnesota, together they had three children. Gary farmed in the Lake Park area until 1992 when he began working in the construction industry. Gary was diagnosed with cancer six years ago. He had a true passion to live life and fought valiantly until the very end.He enjoyed woodworking, mechanics, dancing, NASCAR, and the Old Timers Snowmobile Run. Most importantly, Gary enjoyed spending time with his family and seven precious grandchildren. Gary had a passion for helping others. He will be missed dearly by all those who knew him. God bless the memory of Gary Dean Thompson.He is survived by his wife, Kathy Thompson of Lake Park, MN; one son, Greg Heidi Thompson of Shoreview, MN; two daughters, Traci Roy Adams of Maplewood, MN, and Kristen Rich Zima of Ogema, MN; four brothers, Willard Thompson of Lake Park, MN, Roger Audrey Thompson of Lake Park, MN, Robert Judy Thompson of Lake Park, MN, and James Doris Thompson of Wheatland, ND; four sisters, Doris Kermit Lomsdalen of Ulen, MN, Shirley Jon Knudson of Lake Park, MN, Linda Jerry Gerner of Moorhead, MN, and January Jim Phillips of Moorhead, MN; seven grandchildren, Olivia, Ava and Lauren Thompson, Treygan and Carly Adams, and Samuel and Lukas Zima; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Thompson.
