Gary P. King

Gary Paul King passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on October 4, 2018, at the age of 78.

Gary was born on July 10, 1940, in Fargo, ND, to Lester and Alice (Glennon) King.  He grew up in Wolverton, MN and graduated from Breckenridge High School. In 1960 he enlisted in the United States Air Force.  In 1962 he married Nona Bender and they lived at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida until 1964 when they moved to Moorhead.  Gary and Nona had two daughters, Tammy and Deborah. He worked for UPS for 34 years, until he retired in 1997.  Gary and Nona retired to West McDonald Lake near Dent, MN and spent their winters in Arizona.

Gary is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nona King; children, Tammy (Brad) Fitzgerald and Deborah King; grandchildren, Ryan Fitzgerald, Meghan Fitzgerald, Kelsie Schmiess and Brady Schmiess; brother, Richard (Sonja) King, Utah; sister, Liz Jacobsen, Loves Park, IL and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Darrell Jacobsen.

A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2018, from 2:30 to 3:30 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 3:30 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.
