Gary Zahalka

Gary A. Zahalka, age 77, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021, in Dilworth, MN, surrounded by his loved ones.

Gary Adolph Zahalka was born on May 9, 1944 in Faulkton, SD to Adolph and Ione (Crawford) Zahalka. Gary grew up in Ipswich, SD and graduated from Ipswich High School. Following graduation, he worked as a farmer until 1990 when he became an insurance adjustor. Gary married the love of his life, Diane Busch, on May 30, 1964. They made their home on a farm south of Ipswich, SD until 1990 when they moved to Aberdeen, SD.

Together they had three children, Gary, Greg, and Gena. Gary was a member of the Shriners in Aberdeen for many years. Nothing was more important to him than spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed the outdoors and working in the garden. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and many friends.

Gary is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane; sons, Gary (Debi) Zahalka and Greg (Laurie) Zahalka; daughter, Gena (Mark) Finver; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda (Ken) Fuhrmann; and many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN at a later date.
