Gene J. Eidem

Gene Eidem, 81, Moorhead, MN, died November 17, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family and under care of Sanford Hospice.

Gene Jerome Eidem was born December 24, 1940, in Moorhead, MN, to John and Gladys (Olson) Eidem.  He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Crookston Ag in 1959.  His first job was driving truck for Silverline, which took him to every state except Hawaii and Alaska.  He then worked for Fargo Laundry as a delivery driver, and later for Steiger Tractor for several years.  He also was a custodian for the Moorhead school system and managed apartments from 2010 to August 2022.

Gene was united in marriage to Linda Peterson on June 18, 1983 and they made their home in Moorhead.  Gene had a love for hot rods and sprint car racing and he was a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Vikings.  He always had time to visit and loved to banter with people.  He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gene is survived by his loving wife, Linda and their children, Perry (Mardi) Eidem, Moorhead, Jerry Eidem, Fargo, ND, Elizabeth (Todd) Mitzel, Grand Forks, ND, Rebecca (Anthony) Beck, Imperial Beach, CA, Barbara (Marvin) Logan, Carmel, IN, Robert (Marian) Peterson, Harrington, RI, Angela (Rick) Erb, Detroit Lakes, MN and Jonathan (Kylie) Peterson, Detroit Lakes, MN; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Joyce and his brother, Gary.

A memorial service with Livestream will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 3:30 PM with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
