George A. Goeser

George passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Eagle Ridge Senior Living Center in Osceola, WI.

George Anthony was born September 14, 1937 in Calio, ND, the son of Chrysanth and Rose (Wengeler) Goeser. He graduated from Devils Lake High School and later received his Bachelor of Science degree in both Agricultural Education and Soil Science at North Dakota State University in Fargo.

After graduation, George married the love of his life, Rose Millner from Roseau, MN on June 24, 1961. Following that event, George served in the Army, which first led them to Virginia and then on to Pennsylvania. After serving in the military, they moved back to ND in 1966, where George taught school, owned two businesses in Langdon, and was blessed with 4 children. This all happened throughout the course of 22 years. In 1988, they moved to Warroad, MN, where George worked in Research & Development at Marvin Windows for 15 years. After retiring in 2003, they moved to Moorhead, MN.

George was a devoted husband, father, teacher, and businessman who loved life. He was a very kind and giving man whose strength was deep-rooted in faith. He embraced the joys and challenges of life with patience, courage, and determination.

George grew up farming. He may have spent many years away from it, but farming was forever in his heart. He enjoyed spending time in the summers helping his son-in-law during harvesting season. Farming was his passion.

George was very involved with St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and School in Langdon. He served on the school board, was an active member at the local and state level in the Knights of Columbus, and served the church wherever needed. George, along with Rose, also spent numerous years teaching premarital classes for couples, in order to deepen their understanding of the sacrament of marriage and prepare them for married life. Both George and Rose also dedicated time to advocate for Right to Life. Outside of the church, George was involved with the local and state Jaycees.

When George had free time, he enjoyed spending it with his family playing sports, fishing, boating, water skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, camping, and going to the Goeser farm in Munich, ND. In later years, he loved reading, studying the stock market, tinkering in his shop, and then going back to work part-time early mornings at Menards in Moorhead, MN. George was also an avid cards-man. George and Rose belonged to a Bridge club with a group of friends who played monthly, as well as dipped their toes in ethnic cuisine with a group who prepared and sampled meals from many different countries.

George is survived by his wife, Rose of West Fargo, ND; sons, Mark Goeser of Fargo, ND and Paul (Colleen) Goeser of Brookfield, CT; daughters, Cindy (Pete) Gietzen of Glen Ullin, ND and Wendy Bluhm of St. Croix Falls, WI; his granddaughter, Lexi (Jon) Gietzen of Bismarck, ND; his four grandsons, Tyler (Savannah) Doucette of West St. Paul, MN, Adam (Lateasha) Gietzen of Bismarck, ND, Mark (Emma) Goeser of Bedford, OH, and Elijah Gietzen of Glen Ullin, ND; two great-grandchildren, Eyla and Marren Gietzen of Bismarck, ND; brother, Maurice (Bernelda) Goeser of St. Cloud, MN; sister-in-law, Betty Goeser of Devils Lake, ND, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chrysanth and Rose Goeser; brothers, Ernest Goeser, Peter Goeser, and Owen Goeser; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Goeser and Rebecca Goeser.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo, ND. A reception will follow Mass.

Burial will be in Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
