George K. Grant

George K. Grant, 87, Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, December 18, 2004, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.George Kinsley Grant was born on December 8, 1917, in East Stanwood, WA, to Kinsley George and Rose Ann McCabe Grant. He grew up and attended school in Everett, WA, and then graduated from high school in Minot, ND. George married Louise F. Bong on May 19, 1940, in Minot, ND. He volunteered for service in the U.S. Army and served in the Railway Operating Battalion from 1944 until 1946, in Germany, France and Austria. Upon returning from the service he attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. George worked on the railroad for all of his life, spending 42 years with the Great Northern and later Burlington Northern Railway, working in the communications department. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing and loved to spend time with his family.George is survived by his wife, Louise Grant, Moorhead, MN; one son, Pastor Doug Charlotte Grant, Larimore, ND; two sisters, Nora Grant, Fargo, ND, and Katherine Kinney, Cheney, WA; sister-in-law Arlene Grant; three grandchildren, Christopher Sarah Grant, West Fargo, ND, Stephanie Clyde Harvey, Bloomington, MN, and Michael Grant, Minneapolis, MN; three great-grandchildren, Ariel Holbrook, Avery Grant and Aiden Grant.He was preceded in death by his parents: a son, Gary R. Grant; two brothers, Harry and Richard; sister-in-law, LaVonne Grant, and brother-in-law, John Kinney.
