George Mercado

George Mercado, 66, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, August 29, 2013 in his home in Moorhead, MN.
George Mercado was born on February 15, 1947 in Mission, TX to Policartio and Magdalena Espinoza Mercado. George grew up in Idaho and Chicago, most recently residing in Moorhead, MN. George worked at various places in his life, most recently at the YMCA in Fargo. He enjoyed carpentry, painting and welding. George also loved to fish, detail his cars and learn new things. He volunteered at Dakota Boys Ranch in Moorhead for many years.
George is survived by his long-time companion of 11 years, Natalia Alonzo, Moorhead; and her children, Greg Rosario Alonzo Jr., Glyndon, MN, Antonio Alonzo, New Hampshire, Angel Antonia Garcia Alonzo, New Braunfels, TX, Anna Rodolfo Alonzo Ramirez, Moorhead, MN, Adan Anne Alonzo, New Berlin, WI; his daughter, Georgia Clark, WA; two sons, George Mercado, CA and George Anthony Mercado, San Antonio, TX; step-daughter, Cindy Salinas, San Antonio, TX; step-son, William Arthur Martinez, San Antonio, TX; four sisters, Irma Mercado, Summit, IL, Esmeralda Mercado, Chicago, IL, Aida Mercado, Justin, IL, Alicia Mercado, Chicago, IL; three brothers, Israel Mercado, Mission, TX, Mario Mercado, Cicero, IL and Bernadino Mercado; six grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and sister, Nilda Mercado.

Visitation: Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Funeral: Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Temple Baptist Church, Fargo, ND.

Interment: Evergreen Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
