George R. Keeping

George R. Keeping, 68, of Hawley, MN, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the V.A. Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
George was born September 22, 1944 in Detroit Lakes, MN, to George L. and Alice Carter Keeping. He moved with his family when he was in 5th grade to a farm near Hawley, MN, graduating from Hawley High School in 1962. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era where he was stationed at a NATO Base in Italy. Following his discharge he worked for Northwestern Bell and later for Hawley Masonry. George was married to Deborah Kasin.
George was a very social person and a perfectionist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering on the farm and spending time at his lake lot on Tamarac Lake near Pelican Rapids, MN. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George L. and Alice, brother, Jim, and sisters, Joan Harvala and Marcia Neisius.
He is survived by his son, Brian Stacy Keeping of Hawley, MN; three grandchildren, Jackson, Cole and Carson Keeping; sisters, Mary Lowell Larson of Glyndon, MN, Peggy Doug Freed of of Pine City, MN, Diana Doug Giesinger of Ankeny, Iowa, and Andrea Rich Neisius of Wannaska, MN ; brothers, Michael Paula Keeping of Sarasota, FL, and Tom Susanne Keeping of Fargo, ND; sister-in-law, Phyllis Merle Sagen of Detroit Lakes, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Thursday, April 4, 5:00-7:00 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, Wright Funeral

Funeral: Friday, April 5, 10:30 a.m., Hawley United Methodist Church, Hawley, MN.

Interment: Silver Lake Cemetery, Hawley, MN.
