George R. Ward

George was born April 1, 1926, at home in rural Glyndon, to George and Mary Flemming Ward. He grew up and attended school in Glyndon before he started working on the Railroad. In 1944, George entered the U.S. Army and served until 1946. George married Mary Ellen Jarvis in 1952 and they made their home in Glyndon and raised their family. He continued with the Railroad until he retired in 1988, after 44 years. In 2006 George and Mary Ellen moved to Moorhead where they have since resided. His family was most important to him and he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they always brought a smile to his face. He will be missed by all who knew him.George is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ellen; sons, Russ Jean of Glyndon, Keith Cathy of Moorhead; daughters, Kathleen Noren Ellingson of Fargo, ND, Colleen Brian Scherer of Fargo, ND; eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter; sisters, Mildred Wendt and Mabel Stromberg; and brother, Robert Ward.
