George was born April 1, 1917, in Elkton Township, MN, to Charles and Helen McNair Warren. He grew up near Downer, MN, and went to school and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1936. George then continued his schooling in the CCC's and at Hanson Mechanical Trade School for Auto Mechanics. If George couldn't fix it, it couldn't be fixed. In 1941, George enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served with the 45th Infantry Division of the 500th Armored Field Artillery Battalion in several oversea theatres, including Salerna and Ansio. His Division was one of the first to enter Dachau Concentration Camp. He was honorably discharged in 1945. George settled in Lake Park in 1950, where he farmed south of town. He served on the Lake Park Town Board from 1974-1999. After retiring from farming, he had more time for his hobbies. George took pride in his work and enjoyed woodworking and working on old gas engines. He will be dearly missed.He is survived by his sister-in-law, Myrle Duncan Warren of Bismarck, ND; niece, Jo Warren of Santa Fe, NM; nephews, John Rebecca Warren of Mandan, ND, Jeffrey Warren of Lakespur, CO; and great-niece, Sara Harrie of Healdsburg, CA.George was preceded in death by his parents, infant nephew, James, and brother, Duncan.
