Georgine Phyllis Isakson, 88, of Fargo, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning of June 30, at the Sanford Palliative Care Unit. She was born Sept 3, 1928, in Flora, ND to George and Evelyn Lamen Vallier. Georgine graduated from high school at Benson County Agricultural and Training School in Maddock, ND in 1946. She went on to New York Hairdressing Academy in Fargo and received her cosmetology license, which she still kept current. She moved to Devils Lake, ND and worked at several different salons. Around 1950, she participated in the Snow Queen Pageant. She met Ike Allan Isakson in 1953 and they were married in Williston, ND on September 6, 1953. They lived in Devils Lake, Grafton, Grand Forks, East Grand Forks, and Fargo. The last four years she lived in Independent Living at Edgewood Vista in Fargo.
Georgine was a long time member of First Lutheran Church and the Miriam Circle. She helped with many functions at the church throughout the years.
Georgine and Ike enjoyed over twenty wonderful years at Leaf Lake, where they kept a very large garden. They both bowled many years at Red River Lanes in Fargo, participating in single and couple bowling leagues.
She enjoyed the many friends and neighbors she met at Edgewood. One of her favorite activities was getting her nails done during Friday Morning Manicures.
Georgine is survived by her three daughters, Nancy Isakson, Minneapolis, MN, Valerie Andreas Pirillis, Paralimni, Cyprus, and Rebecca Schill, Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Isaak, Allan, Xenia Pirillis and Carly Schill. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Erickson, Grand Forks, a sister-in-law, Norma Isakson, Fountain City, WI, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her 2 brothers Clifford, his wife Veloy, Gerald, his wife Joyce, and her sister Lucille, her husband Rickard, brother-in-law Phil Erickson, and son-in law, Rique Schill.
The family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood Vista for their kindness and care. We would also to thank the staff at Sanford Palliative Care Unit for their support during this trying time.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 6, from 5 – 7, with prayer service at 7 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, Mn.
Funeral will be Friday, July 7, at 11 a.m., in First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
