Gerald D. Simmons

Gerald D. “Jerry” Simmons passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020 in his home.

Jerry was born in Waco, TX, on January 14, 1931 to Ethel (Clark) and Arthur Simmons Sr.  Shortly after his birth the family moved to Tulsa, OK, where he grew up.  He was one of eleven surviving children.

Jerry served his country and after his service he was a truck driver and a storage tank builder. He retired as a pipefitter.

In the fall of 1966, he met a young widow and they were together almost 54 years.

He married Olivia Matson on September 22, 1976.

He was a member of Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church in Moorhead.

Jerry was a talker and could talk to anyone.  And once he started talking, he could go on for quite a while.  He had lots of stories and advice for anyone who would listen.

His family will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Olivia; 5 children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 12 siblings, many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and one daughter.
