Gerald F. ’Blackie’ Tabatt

Gerald "Blackie" Tabatt, 70, of Sabin, MN, died Friday, April 14, 2006, in MeritCare's Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.Jerry Tabatt was born on August 16, 1935 to Henry and Dorothy Evert Tabatt in Moorhead, MN. He grew up near Sabin, MN and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1953. On January 5, 1963 he married Lucy Johnson in Sabin, MN, together they had two children. Farming and trucking were Blackie's way of life. He enjoyed concerts and shows, playing cards, and sporting events of all kinds. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Blackie was a kind man with an enormous heart who would do anything for anyone. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lucy, Sabin, MN; one son, Chad Tabatt, Thief River Falls, MN; one daughter, Jana Jeff Carson, Walhalla, ND; his mother, Dorothy Tabatt, Moorhead, MN; one sister, Ardie Brandvig, Moorhead, MN; four grandchildren, Hunter, Austin, Blake, and Mckenzie; and one daughter-in-law, Amy Tabatt, Thief River Falls, MNHe was preceded in death by his father, Henry Tabatt.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Mayo Clinic or the Roger Maris Cancer Center.
