Gerald "Jerry" Hanson was born March 22, 1947 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Floyd and Thelma Clark Hanson. He grew up and attended school in Glenwood, IA. He served in the U.S. Navy and was discharged October of 1970. Jerry married Marilee Bryant on June 28, 1982 in Treynor, Iowa. Together they enjoyed their summers on Little Man Trap Lake in northern Minnesota for a short while before moving to Toad Lake. Jerry was a very talented contractor who could fix anything, whether it be construction, wood working or mechanics. Jerry completely remodeled and added additions to their lake home on Toad Lake, which he thoroughly enjoyed and took pride in everything he did, especially his wood working shop and his gardens. Jerry was a very prideful man who will be missed dearly by his family and friends.He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Marilee Hanson, Frazee MN; three sisters, Fern Ted Allan, Council Bluffs, IA, Cheryl Steve Clites, Lake of the Ozarks, MO, and his twin sister, Geraldine Ron Herd, Scribner, NE; one brother, Richard Wanda Hanson, Council Bluffs, IA; nephew, Tracy Hanson, Omaha, NE; several other nieces and nephews and his two Yellow Labs, Sophie and Sammie.He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Floyd & Thelma Hanson; one brother, Harold Hanson; one sister, Frances Hanson; and one nephew, Kevin.The family requests that memorials be given to the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, ND, or the Treynor Fire Department.A memorial service will be held on July 5, 2008, at Zion Congregational Church in Treynor, Iowa. Lunch will be served following the service.
