Gerald F. Neadeau

Gerald Francis Neadeau (Gerry or Wahoo) was born July 9, 1961, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, to Lavern Francis Neadeau and Ethelbert Caroline St. Clair. As a child, Gerry loved spending time at his grandfather's cabin, playing in the woods, and fishing for walleye in Red Lake, MN. 

Gene and Shirley Anderson welcomed Gerry into their Hawley, MN, home as their foster son in 1973. He attended Hawley Public Schools, participating in wrestling and football, and graduated in 1979. 

In high school, Gerry developed the nickname "Wahoo". During every home wrestling match, as Gerry would walk onto the mat, the crowd would chant, "Wahoo! Wahoo!"

Gerry met the love of his life, Kelly Gruenberg, in 1980, and the two welcomed their only child, Joseph, in 1991. 

From 1991 to 2014, Gerry worked as a process technician for American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead, MN. He represented his fellow workers as a union steward and participated in the company's first responder program. 

In 2014, Gerry was medically retired and spent his retirement years with friends and family, hunting, fishing, traveling, playing cards, going to the casino, and loving life. 

Gerry passed away on October 14, 2024, in Fargo, ND, embraced by family.

Gerry is survived by the love of his life, Kelly Gruenberg of Hawley, MN; son Joseph Neadeau of Hawley, MN; three sisters, Marie Neadeau of Red Lake, MN, Sue Neadeau of Thief River Falls, MN, and Terri Neadeau of Red Lake, MN; and many other uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

Gerry is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, his parents, his sister, Marilyn Neadeau of Mahnomen, MN, and several aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 1:00 PM with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.

A second Celebration will be held on Saturday, October 26, from 12-2 PM at the Little Rock Community Center, Red Lake, MN.
