Gerhard L. Thune

Gerhard was born February 6, 1923, to Gunder and Gunhild Besserud Thune on the family farm, rural Lake Park, MN. Growing up on the family dairy farm, he also attended county school through the 8th grade. Gerhard was married to Edna Banse and later to Ann Avery before marrying Ann Stewart. He continued to farm until retiring at age 50 and going back to school. He then started a career in refrigeration service and repair. He took great pride in his work and was very good at it. Outside of his work, he enjoyed traveling to Nevada during the winter months, taking pictures of his travels, and gardening in the summer months. In 2004, Gerhard moved to the Lamplighter in Detroit Lakes, and in 2007 moved to Emmanuel Nursing Home. He will be missed. Gerhard was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lars and Anne; parents, Gunder and Gunhild; and sister, Anna. He is survived by several cousins and friends.
