Gladys Margret Martin Hendershott, 94, died in Phoenix, Arizona, Nov. 15, 2015. She was born and raised in Moorhead, the daughter of Roy and Helen Martin. She lived in Phoenix most of her married life. Gladys is predeceased by her husband Hayder Hendershott and their two sons, Richard and James Hendershott. Also predeceased by brothers Earl and Maurice Martin, she is survived by her brother Wayne Martin, sister-in-law Shirley Martin, daughter Mary Arredondo, and son-in-law Alex Arredondo. She has three grandchildren, Patricia Jo Dempski, Marguerite LaVelle and Ramsey Itani. She has five great grandchildren, Trinidad Dempski, Mia and Molly Lavelle, Isley and Karsten Itani.
Gladys graduated from Dakota Business College with a degree in business and commercial law. She worked in banking and retail sales, as well as managing the business end of a dental office in her retirement. She was equally organized and efficient in running a household. Always energetic and hard-working, she did extraordinary needle work of all kinds. She was a Cub Scout den mother, choir mother, and volunteer for numerous parenting groups to support her children. Gladys joined the Arizona Business Women’s Association in 1978, where she served as the ways and means chairman, scrapbook committee member and was the recording secretary. In 1983 she was honored as the ABWA Woman of the Year. Friendships made through her association in this group lasted throughout her lifetime.
Memorial services for Gladys will be held at noon Sat. July 23, 2016, Evergreen Cemetery in Moorhead. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Visiting Angels East Valley, 701 W. Southern Ave., #103, Mesa, AZ 85210 480/833-8247.
