Glen Victor Hanson

Glen Victor Hanson, 69, of Hawley, MN, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, in his home. Glen was born on June 14, 1949 in Duluth, MN. He came to live with Victor and Agnes (Mikkelson) Hanson in 1957 and was adopted a year later in 1958.

Glen graduated from Hawley High School in 1967, after which he enlisted in the Navy and served for two years. He returned to Hawley and was united in marriage to Renae Amundson on June 5, 1971 at Hawley Lutheran Church. Glen worked for his father at Hanson Jewelry as an apprentice watchmaker for a year before taking his state exam. Glen continued to work for his father and later purchased the business, owning and operating it until 1994. Glen and Renae moved to Washington in 1998 for two years before returning to Hawley where they resided for the remainder of their lives.

Glen was an avid fan of all sports. He particularly enjoyed golf, bowling, board, dice, and card games. He was active in the Hawley Lutheran Church and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Glen is survived by his children, Andrea (Matt) Jorstad, Wade (Amanda) Hanson, and Vicki (Michael) Peterson; granddaughters, Megan and Emily; step-granddaughters, Jennifer, Alexis, and Emily; step-grandchildren, Harvey, Felix, Wiley, and Layla; sister, Laureen (Terrill) Hayes; 3 half brothers; 6 half sisters; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Agnes; wife, Renae; and half sister, Diana.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Final resting place will be at Hawley Cemetery following the service at the church.
