Glenn R. Gilbery

Glenn R. Gilbery, 87, Georgetown, MN, died on Thursday, September 29, 2016, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND, surrounded by his loving family.

Glenn Richard Gilbery was born on September 13, 1929, at Rustad, MN, to George and Bertha Kleveland Gilbery. He grew up and attended rural school at District 23, and later Georgetown and Moorhead. He farmed with his father before entering the U.S. Army in 1953, serving until 1955 and spending some time in Germany. Following his discharge, he returned to Georgetown where he resumed farming.

Glenn married DeEtta Johnson on May 16, 1959 in Glyndon, MN, and they made their home on the farm at Georgetown where he has farmed ever since. In 1970 Glenn established a state of the art hog operation and was featured in a Purina hog feeding facts bulletin.

Glenn was a long time member of Oak Mound Church and served on the church council, he also served on the board of the Georgetown Farmer’s Elevator.

He loved life on the farm surrounded by family. He also loved company and was friendly and welcoming to all who stopped by, even any who wished to use the property. He loved animals and was seldom without the company of his dogs. Glenn was gifted mechanically and enjoyed keeping things running.

Glenn is survived by his wife DeEtta; children Richard Josie, Moorhead, MN, Trent Elaine, Moorhead, MN, Jeff Kelly, Rosemount, MN, Heidi Ziegler, Grand Forks, ND, and John Peggy, Georgetown, MN; siblings Mavis Ray Jacobsen, Park Rapids, MN, Phyllis Nelson, Kragnes, MN, Virginia Edgar Wright, Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law Donna Gilbery, Kenmore, WA; twelve grandchildren David, Katy and Anna Gilbery, Alyssa Keith Asheim, Hannah Gilbery, Cole Gilbery, Hailey, Georgia, and Emi Ziegler, Austin, Harlie and Phoebe Gilbery; one great grandchild, Harper Asheim.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jim and brother-in-law Bill Nelson.

Visitation: Monday, October 3, 2016, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Funeral: Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Interment: Oak Mound Cemetery, Kragnes, MN.
