Glenn Melquist, 71, Mesa, AZ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2007, surrounded by the love and care of his family in Moorhead under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Glenn was born on April 12, 1935, in Moorhead, MN, to Henry and Clara Melquist. He attended Moorhead High School. In 1955, he married Nora Abram from Kragnes, MN, his lifelong best friend of 51 years. Glenn was active in the Moorhead Jaycees and city politics. He served on several boards and committees. Glenn worked for 37 years at Cole Papers of Fargo, ND, where he forged a successful career and made many lifelong friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards with his family and friends. He was especially fond of the evening pontoon ride around the lake, and he made sure to take any new grandchildren for their first ride sitting on his lap in the captain's chair. Glenn always put others first and was a true role model for his family and others who were fortunate to know him. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Glenn was preceded in death by his father and mother; his stepmother Violet; brothers, Ray and Harvey; and a sister, Dorothy. He is survived by his wife, Nora; five sons, Kelly, Fargo, ND, Steven Bonnie, David Aleda, Warren, and Duane Kay, all of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Amy Murray Ridler, Justin, Adam, Grant, Eric, Mike, Abby, Maddison, Amanda, Bethany and Lucas. He was also very happy to see his first great-grandchild, Mason. Nephews Gary, Wayne, Mark; and nieces Lana and Karen.
