Glenn T. Akin Jr.

Glenn Thorson Akin was born on July 28, 1924 in Fargo, ND, to Glenn and Selma Akin. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead, MN graduating from Moorhead High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II seeing action in Guadalcanal, the Marshall Islands, Guam, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. He was present at the signing of the surrender onboard the Missouri. Glenn married Elaine Mulholland on February 11, 1949 and they made their home in Moorhead, where they owned and operated Akin's Electric, a business started by his father 88 years ago. Glenn was very active in the Marine Corps League for many years serving in every post in the organization. He was particularly active in the Marine Corps "Toys for Tots", as well as a life long member of the American Legion and the VFW.Glenn is survived by his son, Mark Akin of Moorhead, MN; and brother, Phillip Akin of San Diego, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; son, Glen "Skip" Akin; and his parents.
