Gloria M. Johnson

Gloria Mae Johnson was born in Detroit Lakes, MN on August 5, 1927. Gloria grew up and attended school in Lake Park, MN, graduating in 1944. She was confirmed at Lake Park Lutheran Church. She attended Moorhead State Teachers College, Moorhead, MN. She also attended University of Minnesota, University of Colorado, University of Wisconsin, and University of North Dakota. Gloria taught high school in Villard, MN and Henning, MN. She then became the librarian for Bagley High School for 32 years, retiring in 1989. She retired in 1989. Gloria suffered a stroke in 2008 and moved to Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN. She volunteered at the Clearwater County Public Library; served on the library board for the Bagley Public Library; and was active in the Bagley Education Association for many years. She was a member of the Clearwater County Republican Party and served in offices including county chairwoman for that organization. Gloria loved to travel throughout the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. She also traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Canada. Gloria was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Bagley, MN. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, cards and word games. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and was very close to her nieces and nephews. Gloria is survived by one brother, Curtis Karen Hanson, Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law, Marlys Hanson, International Falls, MN; two nieces, Darla Todd Mattson, Golden Valley, MN; Dana Chad Rieth, Fargo, ND; two nephews, Steven Wendy Hanson, International Falls, MN and Troy Angie Hanson, Elk River, MN; nine great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Mabel Hanson and one brother, Ted Hanson.
