Gordon M. Olson

Gordon M. Olson, 81, Moorhead, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fargo.

Gordon Millard Olson was born August 31, 1933 in Sisseton, SD to Andrew and Anna Olstad Olson. He grew up and attended country school in rural Sisseton. In 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as a Private First Class, earning a National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1956.

On December 1, 1956 he married Elsie Reitan in Watertown, SD and they made their home in Minneapolis. Gordon worked at Wolkerstorfer Company in Minneapolis as a metal finisher for over 30 years. Gordon and Elsie moved to Ada, MN in 1988 where they lived for four years before moving to Moorhead.

Gordon enjoyed hunting, grilling, going to the casino, taking trips up north to visit family, spending many weekends during the summer at Pinehurst Resort, and especially spending time with his family, who he was always quick to make jokes with.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elsie; sons Scott Olson, Moorhead, and David Olson, New Brighton, MN; daughter Kathleen Aaron Iverson, Winger, MN; brother Arnold Olson, Ada, MN; grandchildren Jeremy Eggert, Emily Olson, Jake Olson, Brandon Krueger, Isaac Iverson, Josie Iverson, Bailey Iverson and Breezy Iverson; two great-grandchildren Suraj and Jeremiah Eggert; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lila Kelly, Gladys Eidem, Vivian Nelson, and brothers Alvin Olson, Kenneth Olson, and Robert Olson.

Funeral Service: Monday, July 20, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead. Interment will be at Faaberg Lutheran Church Cemetery, Rindal, MN.
