Gordon P. Myhre

Gordon P. Myhre, 84, of Lake Park, MN, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Essentia Health – Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, MN.

Gordon Paul Myhre was born on January 15, 1934 to John and Tilly (Dittus) Myhre on the family farm northeast of Lake Park. He attended grades 1-8 at District 21 country school and grades 9-12 at Lake Park High School where he graduated in 1952.  Following graduation, Gordon went to work on the farm.

He married Janice Myhra on August 24, 1963 and together they raised four children.  Gordon enjoyed fishing, bowling, cribbage and whist, watching his Minnesota Vikings and Twins and Sunday drives with Janice, who passed away in 2007.  He served on several area boards including; Audubon Elevator Board, Hamden Township Board and was an active member of First Lutheran Church of Audubon.  After retiring from farming in 1998, Gordon stayed busy delivering the area paper.  He loved being around family and hosting holiday and other get-togethers.  He met June Winings at Oak Crossing and they were joined in a Committal Ceremony on March 16, 2016.

He is survived by his children, Sandra (Herminio) Nunez, Jackson, MN, Stacie (Chuck) Muench, Perham, MN, David (Cindy) Myhre, Detroit Lakes, MN and DeWayne (Jennifer) Myhre, Detroit Lakes, MN; grandchildren, Austin and Josephine Nunez, Kelsey, Jordan and Karissa Muench, Tyler, Madison, Hannah and Hudson Myhre; brother, Roger Myhre, Muskego, WI, and sister, Elsie Billy, Dana Point, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janice and special friend, June.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church, Oak Crossing or Hospice of the Red River Valley.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 5 – 6:30 PM with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 at First Lutheran Church, Audubon, MN.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 11 AM at First Lutheran Church, Audubon, MN.

Burial will be in Audubon Cemetery.
