Gordon Wyland passed away November 15, 2016 at the V.A. Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. He was born in rural Hawley on March 24, 1925. He went to school in Hawley and then moved to rural Glyndon and graduated high school there in 1943. He was inducted into the army on October 17, 1944. Gordon served in the Philippines and was among the first soldiers landing in Japan. He was discharged on November 19, 1946 and moved to Michigan to work at the De Soto Car Company.
Gordon married Lois Wentland on July 23 in Ypsilanti, Michigan and celebrated their 67th anniversary this last July. Lois and Gordon moved back to Minnesota to farm. He drove gas transport for 30 years and covered much of North Dakota. Their family continues to beyond their two sons, Paul and Doug, and now contains 21 loving members. He retired and spent 20 years as a snowbird in Arizona and covered much in their trailer. Gordon was very active in his church at Glyndon Lutheran and held many offices as chairman and Sunday school superintendent and teacher. This was a very large part of his life.
Gordon is survived by many family members including his wife Lois; brother Rodney; son Paul and Mary Anne Wyland; grandchildren Kandi and Jayme Thompson, Nicole and Derrick Bollea, Troy and Veronica Wyland, Jennifer and Steve Reinhold; and great-grandchildren Jordan, Ashly, Cole, Kailyn, Kendall, Evelynn, Tyler, Alyssa, Carl, and Grace.
