Grace was born in Fergus Falls, MN on February 22, 1919. She was the third daughter of Gerhard and Cora Haukebo. She graduated from Underwood High School in 1937, and then attended Moorhead State Teacher's College. Her teaching career began in Swift, MN where she met and married Carl Landin on June 5, 1943. Grace continued her teaching career in Warroad, MN where she taught for 33 years. She and Carl moved to Moorhead, MN in 1978. Carl died in October of that year. Grace became active in the PEO, Fine Arts, Round Table, Prosequi, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the MN Historical Society of the Red River Valley. Grace was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Norma Rubink, Marion Powers, Tessie Bergquist, and Catherine Blount. She is survived by two daughters, Lana Neal Engbloom of Ogema, MN and Cassie Landin of Warroad; sisters, Kelly Falk and Lois Wayne Swenson; brothers, Gerry Doris Haukebo, and Noel Jennifer Haukebo; grandchildren, Sara Matt Solhjem Engbloom, Kristin Engbloom and Logan Corneliusen; and great-grandson, Leif Solhjem.
