Gudrun S. Halvorson, of Hawley, Minnesota, passed away in her home at the age of 92, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and her loving son, Lloyd.She went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 2, 2004, surrounded by her family.Gudrun Synova Folden was born April 13, 1912, at Grygla, Minnesota, to Martin and Marie Bartness Folden. She was the ninth child of fourteen. She grew up in Minnesota, mainly Rollag, Minnesota, where sheattended school, Sunday School and church. She married Lloyd H. Halvorson November 2, 1932 in Moorhead, Minnesota and nine children of her own. Gudrun worked as a cook at the Red Apple and Chefs Grill, and Romkey's Farm up until she retired.Gudrun loved animals as she had many pets over the years, including at one time, a pig. She loved children too. There were always dogs, cats and kids running around the farm where she loved to be and was until her death. She will be deeply missed but will be in our hearts forever.She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, five sisters, her husband, Lloyd Sr., two sons, Donald and Robert, one daughter, Betty Lien, and one grandchild.Gudrun is survived by three sons, Lloyd "Sonny" Halvorson, Hawley,MN, Ronald Halvorson, Hawley, MN, and DuWayne Sheryl Halvorson,Hitterdal, MN; three daughters, Mary Jane Gustufson, Fargo, ND, Sharon Peterson, Hawley, MN, and Dawn Gene Shaw, Hawley, MN; son-in-law, Denver Lien, Ada, MN; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her dog, and best pal, Rocky.A special thanks to Hospice and all the nurses who helped care for Gudrun, it was very much appreciated by her and her family.
