Gunhild Van Nice passed away on Friday, September 11, 2009, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN. Gunhild Marie Larson was born on April 23, 1910, in Borås, Sweden to Peter and Anna Beck Larson, with her family she immigrated to the United States in 1911 on the ship Oskar II. They settled first in Crompton, Rhode Island, then South Bend, Indiana, and finally settled in Clay County on a farm near Georgetown, MN, where she grew up. She attended elementary school in Georgetown, MN. In 1928, she graduated from Moorhead High School. Gunhild then attended Business College in Fargo, ND. She was employed at a bank in Perley, MN, and J.C. Penny's in Fargo, ND. Gunhild married John Van Nice and moved to Fairmont, MN, and then to the Minneapolis area. She was the secretary for her husband's grain elevator construction business. John passed away in 1963, and in 1976, she moved to Fargo, ND, where she lived until she entered Eventide Lutheran Home. Other family members who preceded her in death were her parents; sisters, Ragnhild, Karin, Goldie, Ingrid; and a brother, Carl.Gunhild is survived by a nephew, H. Dennis Marva Odegard, Georgetown, MN; and nieces, Jewel Marlon Strong, Garden Grove, CA, and Dorothy James Powers, Moorhead, MN. She was also survived by great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.Gunhild's home was decorated with many of her own oil paintings. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church.
