Gwendolyn M. West

Mrs. Gwendolyn (Gwen) Maryalys West passed into heavenly rest 11/10/2021, in  Fargo ND. She was born 10/15/1937 to the (late) Harry Johnston and (late) Bernice (Johnston)Mount and graduated from Detroit Lakes HS, at Detroit Lakes MN.

Gwen completed business college in Fargo before marrying her first husband Earl Pederson who predeceased her in 1990. Their children Suzanne (Pederson) Utoh and Steven Earl Pederson survive her, along with their spouses Cyprian Utoh and Joanie Pederson, grandchildren Jesse, Joanna, Jennifer and Judee Utoh, great grandchild Noelle Utoh and her mother Crystal Naylor, and grandchild Racheal (Pederson) McCoy and her husband Kevin, and greatgrandchildren Kaity, Kaia, and Dillon. Grandson Grant Pederson predeceased her.

Gwen worked as a transcriptionist, a secretary and a Weight Watchers instructor, then was remarried to Kenneth West and relocated to farm near Glyndon, Minnesota where she raised miniature dachshunds for years. She is survived by her second husband Ken. Gwen loved her children and their children and grandchildren. She loved horseback riding, and travelled to Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom during her life.

Her children pray that Gwen’s loving spirit, like the butterflies she so loved, continues to bless the lives she touched. We have shed tears that she is gone and now, we smile because she lived.
