Russ was born October 24, 1919 to Henry and Nellie Lien Larson, on the family farm in Cuba Township, Becker County, Minnesota. He graduated from Lake Park High School in 1937 and chose to continue farming with his parents on the farm homesteaded by his grandparents in 1889. In 1942, Russell married Gladys L. Rue at Audubon Lutheran Church. While farming, Russ began working for the Lake Park and Cuba Fire Insurance Company and later retired after thirty-nine years of service. Russ was a life long member of Eksjo Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities. He also served many years on the Lake Park School Board, Lake Park Lions Club, Lake Park Masonic Lodge, Lake Park Historical Society, the Gideon Society, Scout Master for the Lake Park Boy Scout Troop, the Community Choir, Lake Park Barbershop Choir, and was a Minnesota Hunter Safety Instructor.After fifty-three years of marriage, his wife, Gladys, passed away in 1996. Russ later married a high school classmate, Ruth Gjelten Heyndericks.He was preceded in death by one sister, Doris May August Nelson, and two stepsons, Joel and James Heyndericks.Russ is survived by two sons, Otis Judy Larson, Colorado, Marlin Marlene Larson, Tennessee; one sister, Eunice Warner, Brownton, MN; his wife, Ruth; one step-daughter, Judy David Taylor, Florida; and nine grandchildren.
