Harlan Maynard Anderson, 87, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the V.A. Hospital in Fargo, ND. Harlan was born on July 15, 1929 in Wano Township, Lamoure County, by Edgeley, ND to Merle and Emma Missine Anderson. He lived on a farm with his parents along with his siblings, Darrel, Marlyn, and Mavis. They moved to Fargo, ND in 1942.
Harlan attended Agassiz Junior High and Fargo Central High School. He later attended NDSU for a short while until joining the Navy from 1948 to 1952. He worked as a Hospital Corpman staioned at Chelsea Navel Hospital in Boston, MA, and the Aircraft Carrier, U.S.S. Coral Sea, in the Mediterranean Sea.
Harlan married Helen Jacobsen on August 15, 1953 in Fargo, ND. He worked for Osco Drug in Waukegan, IL and Green Bay, WI, Haag Drug in Indiana, and Safeway Super S in Denver, CO. They moved back to Green Bay, where he worked for Green Bay Trophy, Finch Gift House in Hayward, CA, Arvid Benson Furniture in Moorhead, MN and later worked for Upper Midwest Sales as an on the road salesman selling hospital janitorial supplies. Harlan retired in 2006.
Harlan is survived by his wife, Helen Anderson; son, Gary Anderson; daughter, June Anderson; sister, Mavis Don Moore of Livingston, MT, and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Emma; and brothers, Marlyn and Darrel Anderson.
Memorial Service: Tuesday, March 28 at 11:00 AM at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead with a visitation one hour prior to services.
Burial: Will be taking place on a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Lisbon, ND.
