Harold Arthur Anderson, 73, of Dilworth, MN, died Sunday March 13, 2011 in his home, Dilworth, MN. Harold was born on July 21, 1937 in Fergus Falls, MN to Herbert and Amanda Mickelson Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake, MN. He attended elementary school at rural District Nine and graduated from Ashby High School in 1956. Harold then graduated from the Technical School of Automation in Des Moines, IA. He married Yvonne "Vonnie" Thompson on December 27, 1958 at Kvam Lutheran Church, rural Dalton, MN. They had three sons. After moving from Des Moines, IA in December, 1967 they lived in rural Glyndon, MN, until recently when they moved to Dilworth, MN. They spent several winters in Arizona and Texas, playing their music to the Arizona snow birds and winter Texans.He worked in Des Moines as a Data Processing Manager for Brady Motorfreight, until moving back to Minnesota. Then he worked various jobs in the computer field and sales in Fargo until retiring in 2003. Harold also had a band "H & V Melodies" with his wife Vonnie for 40 years. They played in eleven states, Canada and Norway, until his illness. He enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in 1956 and served for eight years in Fort Knox, KY, Elbow Lake, MN and Des Moines, IA. Harold was a member of Sons of Norway, Kringen Lodge, Fargo, ND for 40 years. He served as Lodge President, District Four Zone Director and Field Representative. He was a member of Glyndon Lutheran Church, Glyndon Lions, Fergus Falls Eagles and Minot Moose Lodge. Harold was an honest, caring and loving person. He loved his family and extended family very much. He thoroughly enjoyed people and was always ready to help when he could. He especially enjoyed family gatherings, his music, traveling and taking pictures. He is survived by his wife, Vonnie, Dilworth, MN; three sons, Doug Lynn, Fargo, ND, Cary Britta, Glyndon, MN and Don Karla, Fort Collins, CO; seven grandchildren, Brent, Jacob, Derek, Sara, Kally, Luke and Ryan Anderson; two step-grandchildren, Michelle and Dain Synhorst; brother, Norman Dara Anderson, Alexandria, MN; sister-in-law, Judy Anderson, Alden, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ruben Anderson. The family would like to send a special thanks to Hospice of the Red River Valley for the exceptional care and kindness given to Harold during his time with them.
