Harold A Trosen, 80, of Turtle Lake, near Lake Park, MN, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019, in Sanford on Broadway, Fargo, ND.

Harold Andrew Trosen was born August 19, 1938 near Inkster, ND, to Mary and Gus Trosen. He grew up on a farm near Inkster and attended Inkster Public School where he graduated from high school in 1956. Harold attended the University of North Dakota where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1960 and a Masters of Education degree in the summer of 1969. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant through the ROTC program at UND and served for six months in the Army Signal Corps.

He began teaching in 1961 at Granville and subsequently taught and was principal at Bowbells, Reeder, and Rolla, all in North Dakota. He was superintendent at Reeder for three years, from 1967 to 1970, and then be became Superintendent of the Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Fargo, a position he held for seven years. Harold returned to the classroom in 1977 and taught at Detroit Lakes and later at Audubon, both in Minnesota. He finished his teaching career at Lake Park when the Lake Park and Audubon districts consolidated. Harold retired from teaching in 1997 having spent 36 years as a teacher and administrator.

Harold was an avid bridge player. In addition to playing bridge several times a week, he enjoyed working in his gardens and reading. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where he served on the church council and also served as trustee and helped count money from the Sunday collections, before Parkinson’s disease made it impossible to serve.

Harold is survived by his friend, Robert Link, and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anne (John) Whitehead, Donnley (Robert) Pengilly, MaryEllen (Harold) Skibicki; brothers, Bernard (Annabelle York), Francis (Margaret Pengilly), his twin brother, Harris (Mary Vernes), and George; sisters, Margaret, Jean, and Teresa (who died in infancy).

Visitation will be from 4:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 6:30 P.M., with a Rosary immediately after the prayer service on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Lake Park, MN. Visitation will continue from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at the church on Wednesday, June 19, 2019. Burial will be at St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery, Conway, ND.
