Harold Evert Johnson

November 2, 1923 — November 5, 2005

Harold Johnson was born November 2, 1923, in Flaxton, ND, to Andrew and Mary Johnson, both ?migr?s from Norway. He graduated from high school in Langdon, ND in 1942. Harold farmed in Loma, ND, before moving to Moorhead, MN, in 1953 with his wife, Elaine Konze. He worked for Roy and Katie Merrill for many years at their Deep Rock and Texaco service stations in Moorhead and also for Branick Manufacturing in Fargo until going to work for Northwest Beverages. After his retirement, he worked as a driver for Camelot Cleaners and received special recognition two years in a row as Driver of the Year for all the deliveries he made for Coats for Kids. He was very proud of that. Harold was also a long-time member of the Teamsters and the Teamsters Retirees, the Moose, and the Eagles. His father, mother, and three sisters, Marie, Mildred, and Evelyn, preceded Harold in death. Harold was a good and caring son to his parents and a fond brother to his sisters. He always enjoyed their company and loved to visit with them. Harold welcomed his visitors to his home and didn't consider himself a good host until he'd offered a can of pop, a cup of coffee, or a drink within thirty seconds after you walked through his doorway. Harold loved funny movies and had a large collection of them. He was also an avid Pinochle player and he looked forward to Mondays because that was Pinochle day at Good News. He hated miss his card game and, if necessary, he would have ridden a bicycle to get there. He also loved woodworking and, when he was in good health, he spent many happy hours in his shop making oak clocks and memories for all those he presented his clocks to. Harold was the father of nine children, Wayne, Linda Robert Rockwell, Randy Julie Iwerks, Joleen Flores, all of Fargo; and Connie Richard Plum, Mapleton, ND, January Bosch, Argyle, MN, Sheila Johnson Jay Stein, Glyndon, MN, Dale Linda, Loveland, CO, and Jerry Jean, Walcott, ND. Harold was the also proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a very special friend of 29 years, Louise Buchholz, and her chidren, Duane, Pam, David, Val and Genise. We'll miss you Dad. Sleep tight.
