Harris O. Arneson

Harris O. Arneson, 82, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Viking Manor, Ulen, MN.

Harris Ordean Arneson was born to Albert and Viola (Kirby) Arneson on January 21, 1938 in Walhalla, ND. At the age of 9, the family moved to Pitt, MN, near Baudette, MN, where he graduated from high school in 1957. Harris enlisted in the Navy in 1957 and enjoyed a 20-year career. He was very proud of his military service and rarely missed a Navy reunion. He was also chosen to take part in the 2017 Honor Flight.

On June 13, 1980 Harris married Delphia Morey in Baudette, MN. They were a perfect match, and he would do anything she told him to. Following his military career, he worked for Rowell Laboratory in Baudette until retiring in 1995. In 1996 they moved to Turtle Lake near Hawley, MN. Delphia passed away on November 1, 2016.

Harris enjoyed woodworking and made several eagles and turtles for his neighbors at the lake. He loved Twins baseball and had season tickets to the FM Redhawks. He also enjoyed playing bingo and doing puzzles and spent many days driving his car and wheely chair.

Harris is survived by his step-children, Shirley (Dale) Misner of Motley, MN, Laurie (Keith) Pommerening of Bemidji, MN, Tod Morey of Clementson, MN, Lila Morey of Baudette, MN, Blossom Chwialkowski of Hawley, MN, Brian (Donna) Morey of Little Canada, MN; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and sister, Lois (Leonard) Bestrom of Laurel, MT.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delphia; grandson, Alan Clementson and sister, Evelyn (James) Vondrka.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 from 10:00-11:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM at Solem Lutheran Church, rural Hawley, MN, and limited to 50 people. A live Webcast is available on this page.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM in Elm Park Cemetery, Baudette, MN.
