Harry Joseph Jackim

Harry Joseph Jackim, 89, of Moorhead, MN, died Friday, November 3, 2017, at Eventide in Moorhead.

 

Harry was born September 30, 1928, to Peter and Anna (Solovey) Jackim in Racine, WI, where he spent his entire youth.  He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for 1 ½ years and later continued his education at UND-Grand Forks.  Harry became a flight steward for Northwest Airlines based out of Seattle.  He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950 and was stationed in Punchbowl, Korea.  While there, he became fluent in both Russian and Japanese languages.  Harry married his first wife, Carol, in Cudahy, WI.  They had two children, Bruce and Barbara.  His career in sales took him through many companies, ending with Kimberly Clark.  He worked for them for 22 years, retiring in 1992.

 

Harry married his second wife, Ann Poole, after meeting her through the FM Single Adults Club.  She had 5 children, Mary, Tom, John, Joe and Sue Poole.  They enjoyed 47 happy years of marriage, spending much of that time at their lake cabin on Devils Lake, MN.

 

He is survived by his children: son, Bruce (Nina) Jackim, Cleveland, OH and daughter, Barbara Conrad, Palm City, FL; grandsons, Kyloh, Benjamin, Ivor, and Gavin; great-grandaughter, Elizabeth; brother, Antone Jackim; 5 step-children, 9 step-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary; grandson, Kyle Hegland and  many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

 

Harry’s wishes were to donate his body to the UND School of Medicine for the advancement of science.  There will be no formal memorial service, but thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
