Hazel L. Schimming

Hazel Tufton Schimming, 85, Moorhead, MN, died on Sunday, June 8, 2015, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, MN.
Hazel Tufton was born on July 22, 1928, in Moorhead, MN, to Oliver and Florence Wentzel Tufton. She grew up and attended country schools and then Moorhead High School.
Hazel married Lester Schimming on January 15, 1947 and they lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Hazel received training as a nurses aid at St. John’s Hospital in Fargo and then became an EKG tech. She worked at St. John’s until retiring in 1991.
Hazel loved her work, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Her favorite things were chocolate, Coke and coffee. She was known for her homemade frosted chocolate brownies.
Hazel is survived by her daughters Janie Duane Klein, Morris, MN, Judy Rud, Moorhead, MN, and Nancy Chuck Sund, Fargo, ND; seven grandchildren, Paula, Jill, Jeff, Adam, Sam, Lindsey and Lisa; twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bud and Malcolm Tufton; a sister Bernice White; nephew Rodney White; niece Linda Tufton; and granddaughter Sara Sund.
Funeral: Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 2:00 P.M., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN, with visitation one hour before the funeral.
Interment: North Buffalo Lutheran Church Cemetery, Kragnes, MN.
