Helen A. Monson

Helen A. Monson, age 83, of Christine, ND, died on Sunday, July 22, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society nursing home in Oakes, ND.Helen Aleda Willard was born on August 31, 1928 in Epping, ND. At a very young age, Helen's parents were divorced at which time Helen moved to the Children's Village home in Fargo, ND. She was soon adopted by the Miller family of Buffalo, MN. The Miller family later moved to Christine, ND, where Helen graduated from Christine High School in 1936. On June 26, 1948, she married Howard V. Monson in Moorhead, MN. The couple lived in Christine, where they operated the Christine Garage Business for 31 years, until Howard's retirement in 1979. Howard died on September 18, 1998. Helen enjoyed gardening and tending to flowers. She was the Christine Lutheran Church janitor for many years as well as the sexton and caretaker of Christine Cemetery. Helen loved her grandchildren dearly. She enjoyed watching their baseball and softball games as well as go-kart races. Helen's greatest pleasure was to spoil her grandchildren. The family pets, Abby and Diesel, also brought so much happiness to Helen's life.She is survived by her son, Randy Lisa Monson; grandson, Austin Michelle Monson and granddaughter, Jasmine Nick Paczkowski, all of Christine, ND as well as several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard Monson; two brothers, Fred and Ralph Willard and two sisters, Grace Bloxhem and Naomi Morchetti.
