Helen Grace Swanson

Helen Grace (Jorgenson) Swanson, 95, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in Eventide Nursing Home, Moorhead, MN. Helen was born on March 18, 1923 to Michael and Oleah (Johnson) Jorgenson in Wolverton, MN.

Helen graduated from Wolverton High School in 1941. She attended Dakota Business College in Fargo for accounting. She was employed at the Internal Revenue Service in Fargo for 13 years. Helen was united in marriage to Orin Swanson on June 19, 1954 in Moorhead. They celebrated their 50^th wedding anniversary on June 19, 2004 at their son’s home in Moorhead.

Helen and her sisters loved music. They enjoyed getting together and often times would sing at any opportunity. She enjoyed volunteering her time at Trinity Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed bowling, birdwatching, fishing, and spending time at the lake.

Helen is survived by her sons, Dan (Tammy) Swanson, Moorhead, MN, and David (Diane) Swanson, Willmar, MN; grandchildren, Ashley Swanson, Joshua Swanson, Megan Swanson, Paige (Mathias) Kappes, and Marissa (Andrew) McKibbin; great-grandchild, Arya McKibbin; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Orin; parents, Michael and Oleah; sisters, Thelma (Grant) Edenstrom, Olive (Don) Jacobson, Minnie Kirkhorn, Alice (Hugh) Nelson, and Amy (Harvey) Alm.

Visitation: Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN, from 1:00PM to 3:00PM with a prayer service beginning at 3:00PM.

Funeral: Monday, August 27, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN, at 11:00AM with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial: Monday, August 27, 2018 at Moorhead Memorial Gardens following the service.
