Helen I. Foss

Helen I. Foss, 86, Fargo, ND, died on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at the Waterford, Fargo, ND.

Helen Irene Snedigar was born on April 22, 1925, in DeSmet, SD, to Arthur and Florence Mullen Snedigar. She graduated from high school at Huron, SD, and then attended Valley City State Teacher's College in Valley City, ND, graduating with a teaching degree. She taught school in rural North Dakota. Helen married Alden Foss on December 26, 1947, in Valley City, ND, where they made their home. She owned and operated Steven's Clothing in Valley City. She and Al moved to Fargo in the early 1970's and she worked as a substitute teacher in the Fargo Schools. She was a long time member of the Fargo Country Club, an avid bridge player and an active member of P.E.O. She was also a talented artist and loved to paint. Her husband of 64 years, Alden, died on October 31, 2011.

Helen is survived by her son Paul L. Foss, Fargo, ND; daughter Susan Hayer, Fargo, ND; granddaughter Paige Hayer; sister Ruby McAllister, Fargo, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six sisters and two brothers.
