Helen Simcox, 92, Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND, died on Saturday, August 14, 2004, in Meritcare Hospital, Fargo, ND.Helen Larimer was born on November 27, 1911, in Union County, Iowa, to George and Clara Greene Larimer. She grew up and attended school in Creston, Iowa. The oldest of four daughters, Helen quit school to take care of her mother and the family while her mother died of tuberculosis. She lost her mother at age fourteen and within a year was in the sanitarium with TB herself. She was there for five years. She then worked in people's homes until returning to the Sanitarium at Oakdale to work. Helen's dream was to be a nurse. Her time at Oakdale gave her the opportunity to perform all the duties of a trained nurse, but without the formal schooling. She was an extraordinary nurse and was so thankful to have had her dream come true. Helen married Albert W. Simcox on June 14, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, where they made their home. Albert died on February 4, 1974. Helen moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1987 and had been living at Bethany Homes for the past 8 months. She was a wonderful, attentive mother and grandmother, a giver of love and joy to her extended family, a good and true friend to many. Her wonderful sense of humor permeated all of her interactions with others. She loved the Lord deeply and on a daily basis appreciated his world and all that is in it. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.Helen is survived by her daughter, Mary Bob Overmann, Fargo, ND; a sister Grace Jesse Smith, Oswego, KS; two grandchildren, Ben Claire Overmann, Alexandria, VA, and Jed Overmann, Minneapolis, MN; two step-grandchildren, Jannan Marx, Dike, IA, and Robert Simcox, Altoona, IA; a brother-in-law, Berl Jenkins, Corpus Christi, TX.
