Helen M. Brakke

Helen M. Brakke, 93, Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND, died there on Monday, February 22, 2016.
Helen Marcelle Brakke, the second child of Oscar and Clara Brink Brakke was born at Horace, ND on February 4, 1923. She was baptized in Comstock, MN and confirmed in the Hoff Lutheran Church at Rustad, MN. She attended elementary and two years of high school in Rustad and completed her junior and senior years in Comstock, graduating in 1940. In 1941-42 she attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. From 1942 through 1988 she was employed as a secretary-bookkeeper in the Fargo-Moorhead area, retiring in June, 1988. During her career she had been employed at the Clay County A.S.C. Office, Cass County Implement Company, Alloway Manufacturing Company, and The Neuropsychiatric Institute.
Helen loved to play bridge and enjoyed her many bridge friends and sorority friends. She had a very generous nature and never neglected to send a card to all of her many family members on their significant days.
Helen’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Pioneer House, Elim Memory Care, and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
She is survived by her sister Eleanor Robert Brandt, Moorhead, MN; brother Norman Brakke, Everett, WA; sisters-in-law Dorothy Brakke, Fargo, ND, Rhoda Brakke, Moorhead, MN, Shirley Brakke, Fargo, ND; 28 nieces and nephews; 62 great nieces and nephews; 59 great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Orris and Lorraine Brakke, Milton Brakke, Donald Brakke, Gordon Brakke, Mildred and Delbert Evert, Beverly and Carl Carlson; sister-in-law Sheila Brakke; six nieces and nephews and one great nephew.
Visitation: Sunday, February 28, 2016, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. There will also be visitation for one hour before the funeral in the church.
Funeral: Monday, February 29, 2016, at 11:00 A.M., in First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
Interment: Hoff Lutheran Cemetery, Rustad, MN.
