Helen Ruth Johnson was born on March 31, 1923 to Robert D. Jones and Bernice Case Jones in Milbank, SD where she grew up. She graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. After graduation she worked for the Girl Scouts of America as a District Director. She married Douglas M. Johnson in Milbank, SD on June 19, 1948. Douglas and Helen were associated with Norwest Corporation for 35 years. They lived in Montevideo, St. Cloud, Minneapolis, Fergus Falls, South Lida Lake and Moorhead.As they moved around Minnesota, Helen was associated with the D. A. R. American Red Cross, Hospital Auxiliary and the Episcopal Church. In Fargo/Moorhead, Helen volunteered at St. Ansgar's Hospital, United Blood Service and MeritCare Hospital. She was a member of Preseque Study Club, Dakota Chapter of the Daughter of the American Revolutions, Fine Arts Club and a member of Gethsemane Episcopal Parish.She is survived by one son; Karl Kathy Johnson of Virginia; one daughter, Bonnie Bill Peterson or Moorhead, MN; two sisters, Berta McDougall of Detroit Lakes, MN and Margaret Mehring of California; two grandchildren, Anna Jeremy Mauldin and Matthew Peterson and one great-granddaughter, Aynsley Mauldin.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Robert.
