Henry James Clark, age 70, of Moorhead, MN, passed away after a many-year battle with brain cancer on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
Henry James Clark was born on January 30, 1951 in Topeka, Kansas to Charley and Bernice (Nugent) Clark. He was a citizen of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. Henry grew up in various towns in Kansas and Idaho before his family moved to Montana in the 1960’s. He enjoyed helping his dad with the family towing business and on his 18th birthday, he was gifted his own tow truck. He sold the tow truck for a semi and began his lifelong career of over-the-road trucking, hauling produce, dry goods, lumber, and many other types of cargo. He drove millions of miles in “Big Red” over the years. In his 40’s, Henry joined his brother Gerry in a home delivery seafood business in Moorhead which operated for a number of years. In 1980, Henry met the love of his life, DeVon Hoff, and after dating for 10 years, they married on June 16, 1990 at Bonanzaville in Fargo. He unfailingly called DeVon every night he was on the road.
Henry was a generous, hardworking man who was always welcoming to everyone, even strangers. Family was always first as he loved spending every free minute with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He especially loved taking them out to supper. He enjoyed old western movies, doing woodworking projects, tinkering and fixing things, making his “famous” beans and weenies, cuddling with the dogs, and having coffee at the Fryn’ Pan with his friends. He changed peoples’ lives through his care and actions and he will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
Henry is survived by his wife of 31 years, DeVon Hoff; children: Madona Sorensen, Henry Jr. “Hank” (Melanie) Clark, Randall Loffelmacher, Ryan (Lisa) Clark, Dena (Tim) Boyle, and Robyn Clark; grandchildren: Elecia Flores, Paige Beach, Kambrie (Cole) Wright, Cameron (Erin) Clark, Rolly Beach, Sophia Beach, Gabriel Clark, Alex Verbout, Kadence Trebas, Trinity Trebas, and Leilauni Schaeffer; great-grandchildren: Raylee and Harlee Clark and Marcos and Damian Andrade; siblings: Gerry (Star) Clark, Mary Stuart, Joe (Brenda) Clark, Fred (Cindy) Clark, and Tim (Connie) Clark; sister-in-law, Lynn Clark; special friend, Arlene Asplin; and many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents Charley and Bernice Clark, brother Charlie Clark, brother-in-law Earl Stuart, grandson Dustin Cotton, and special friend Paul Asplin.
