Herman Wallace Clark passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his family on July 6, 2022 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. Herman was born March 9, 1955 to Ralph and Eleonora Clark. Herman grew up on the family farm in rural Felton, MN. Herman graduated from Glyndon high school in 1973. Herman then joined the army and was stationed in Germany. Herman was honorably discharged and returned home to begin his lifelong career of excavating. Herman married the love of his life Karen Kukowski on November 15, 1975 in Georgetown, MN. They built their home in rural Georgetown MN where they raised their three children. Herman worked for Asplin Excavating until he started his own business Clark’s Excavating and Septic Pumping in 1981. Herman took great pride in building the family business working alongside Karen and his children on jobsites. He enjoyed operating his heavy equipment and visiting with his customers. Herman retired April 1, 2021 and his oldest son Jeremy and wife Dana took over the family business. Herman was best known as being the hardest worker at anything he did and was nicknamed The Herminator. Herman loved being with his family. He enjoyed taking family vacations and lake time at the cabin on Leaf Lake. Herman took great joy being with his grandchildren and attending all their activities. Herman was known to be a mischievous fun loving uncle. Herman was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church in Georgetown, MN.
Herman is survived by his wife of 46 years Karen; three children, Jeremy (Dana) Clark, Moorhead MN, Krystle (Cliff) Tollefson, New Town, ND, Jacob (Breonna) Clark, Blaine MN; five grandchildren, Alexander and Andrew Clark, Tenley, Hayden, and Griffin Tollefson; three brothers Donald (Kathy) Clark, Fargo ND, Carl (Lynn) Clark, Woodbury MN, and Al Clark, San Antonio TX; mother-in-law, Marjorie Kukowski; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Larry) Richards, Georgetown MN, Debbie O’Shea, Tucson AZ; and brothers-in-law, Steve (Jaye) Kukowski, Willston ND, Dan Kukowski, Pelican Rapids MN, Paul (Deborah) Kukowski, Georgetown MN, Dean Slininger, Ada MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lorraine Slininger, father-in-law William Kukowski, and sister-in-law Carol Clark.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 14, from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 601 15th Ave. N, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will continue from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 15, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., at the church.
