Holly L. Bergo, 44, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND, surrounded by her family and friends.
Holly Lynn Bergo was born on October 6, 1970 in Great Falls, MT to Bruce and Roxann “Roxy” Peterson Bergo. Holly grew up in Fargo, where she graduated from Fargo South High School in 1989. She then earned her Bachelor Degree in Community Health Education from Moorhead State. While attending college, Holly was a cheerleader for UND basketball and NDSU football.
Holly started her career in Bismarck, ND, as a field epidemiologist for the ND Dept. of Health. She then moved to Fargo-Moorhead and worked as a Health Educator for Clay County Public Health. Holly continued her career as a Health Educator for the Wellness Center at NDSU. She then furthered her education at NDSU by earning a second Bachelor’s Degree as a Register Nurse. Holly then became a Public Health Nurse at Fargo Cass Public Health, where she worked until her health no longer allowed her to.
In 2007 Holly was diagnosed with pulmonary lymphangioleiomyomatosis LAM. She continued living life to the fullest and having fun everywhere she went. On Feb. 6, 2010, Holly had a double lung transplant that gave her five more years of life. She continued her passion of teaching health and nursing to all of her caregivers during this time. She also had a strong faith, which helped her through her diagnosis and treatments. Holly was an avid Bison fan who loved being with her friends and family; always the life of the party. Most of all Holly loved being with her three nephews, who were the love of her life. Holly will be missed by all whose lives she has touched.
She is survived by her parents, Bruce and Roxy Bergo, Moorhead, ND; sister, Julie Brett Lambrecht, Wahpeton, ND; and three nephews, Jake, Joe and Josh; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Holly was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Margarette Peterson and Carl “Ike” and Edna Bergo.
A special thanks to the staff at Golden Living Center, Moorhead and the physicians and staff at the Mayo Clinic and Sanford Health for their friendships and exceptional care to Holly.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Holly’s memory to the LAM Foundation or the Mayo Clinic Heart-Lung Transplant Clinic.
In the spirit of Holly’s love for the Bison and a fun celebration, please feel free to wear your Bison gear.
