Howard Clark Ramstad, 90, Moorhead, MN, died on Monday, April 9, 2012, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.Howard Clark Ramstad was born on May 15, 1921, in Duluth, MN, to Sigurd and Ethel Jobson Ramstad. He grew up and attended school there, graduating from Duluth Central High School and the University of Minnesota Duluth. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea, flying over 100 missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. After serving in the Air Force, he worked in Army Civil Service for U.S. Army Aviation Systems Command AVSCOM for sixteen years, living in Duluth, MN, Sun Prairie, WI, and St. Louis, MO before retiring in Moorhead. He married Bonnie Ellefson on December 12, 1952. She died on March 3, 2007. In retirement, he enjoyed flying and had his own plane. He loved classical music and faithfully attended Concordia College music performances. He had been an active member at Brookdale Baptist Church.He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Ramstad, Moorhead; two grandsons, Jan Benjamin Ramstad Jacobson and Daniel Leif Ramstad Jacobson. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister Dorothy and brother Vernon.
