Howard was born on December 25, 1940 to Willard and Christine Swenson Hoglund in Willmar, Minnesota where he grew up and attended school. After graduating from high school he entered the U.S. Navy and served four years. While in the Navy, Howard was stationed in Japan during the Vietnam War. Howard married Kathryn Veselka in Greenbush, Minnesota on July 11, 1964. Together they had three children. The Hoglund family lived in various communities in Minnesota and Washington over the years. Howard retired to Cocolalla, Idaho in 1996 after 26 years with the Boeing Company. Howard enjoyed visiting with others any chance he had. He took pride in his Harley Davidson motorcycle and his John Deere restoration projects. He also enjoyed music especially Johnny Cash, western movies, war documentaries, and stopping by ANY garage sale, yard sale, rummage sale, auction, or flea market to find a good deal. Any vehicle he drove would automatically turn into the nearest Dairy Queen to satisfy his love of Blizzards. His favorite attire included denim bib overalls and a green John Deere hat. He also enjoyed making the annual treks to Minnesota to visit family and friends and to Ohio to celebrate his grandson's birthday. He will be dearly missed. Howard is survived by the following:.
