Howard “Howie” I. Pagenkopf, Jr., 71, of Hawley, MN, died Thursday, April 9, 2015, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Howard Ilsley Pagenkopf, Jr. was born on February 19, 1944, in Wausau, WI, to Howard Sr. and Betty Shuford Pagenkopf. Howie grew up in Wausau, where he graduated from high school after which he then served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. Howie later attended the University of WI. He started working for Case IH in Wisconsin, and later transferred with his family in 1993 to Fargo, where he worked until his retirement.
On December 15, 1973, Howie married Linda Evans. Together they had four children, and eventually made their home in Hawley. Howie enjoyed anything he could do to be outdoors from Camping to hunting to even the yearly chore of cutting wood. Howie was an avid bird watcher and especially loved the company of bald eagles. When Howie wasn’t mowing the lawn on his riding lawn mower, he would be tinkering and fixing anything he could. One of the more common sights you would find would have been Howie pondering on just how things worked. Linda and Howie enjoyed spending their time traveling and going on cruises, most recently, renewing their vows in Hawaii. Howie prided himself in standing by his children and guiding them to become remarkable parents, spouses and adults themselves. Howie cherished every moment with his grandchildren but most of all, spending a vast amount of his thoughts on how to drive his beloved Mumsy of 41 years crazy with his unique sense of humor.
Howie is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda, Hawley, MN; two sons, Mark Pagenkopf, Fargo, ND, and Anthony Pagenkopf, Hawley, MN; two daughters, Heidi Chris Aldridge, Hawley, MN, and Kerri Danny Anderson, Hawley, MN; two brothers, Richard Jill Pagenkopf, Rosemount, MN, and Robert “Bob” Carolyn Pagenkopf, Fairfield, Iowa; grandchildren, Shawnna, Marcus, Ethan, Seth, Kyla, Hoyt and Morgen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janie Carol Williams.
